people of the transition
What is a transition? Who are the people of the transition? Artists are considered the most sensitive to transitions and change — and that is why we put the questions to them.
From Marc Chagall to the present day, the works and stories of artists — the true people of transition — have opened up hidden conflicts between generations, nations, and countries. Global social and cultural change is linked not only to shifts in political regime, but also, for example, to migratory flows. Artists answer questions about themselves, about the time and the environment in which their work is born, or fails to be born. These answers reach us through personal stories that change across time and space. Each story defines the transition in its own way; each new place can give the work a new direction. What does it cost to make art today? There are many answers, and each of them reflects the modern everyday.
