thresholds
Site-specific audiovisual installation in collaboration with the musician Ilya Duganov. Developed during a summer residency for the Uncloud festival at the former Pieter Baan Centrum, Utrecht, Netherlands, 2023.
Developed within the former forensic psychiatric clinic Pieter Baan Centrum in Utrecht, Thresholds explores liminality through architecture, institutional memory, and the perception of space.
Combining spatial scans, point clouds, moving image, generative lighting systems, and synchronized sound, the project reconstructs an entire floor of the building as an unstable threshold between physical reality and simulated space.
As part of the festival, a 30-minute live audiovisual performance was also presented, extending the research initiated in Thresholds.
While the installation focused on the architectural, institutional, and spatial dimensions of liminality, the performance approached these questions from a more intimate perspective. Combining live sound, generative visual systems, and real-time processing, it explored liminal spaces as subjective psychological territories shaped by memory, perception, and states of transition.
